I see there are a couple of Westin HDX nerf bars for my 2020 Ram 1500 Crew Cab but not sure if there's much of a difference. Is it just the different step design is all?

You're on the money as the only thing separating the two Westin HDX nerf bars that fit your 2020 Ram 1500 Crew Cab is the design. As you can see by the linked installation instructions for both bars, they even install the same on your truck, bolting onto your rocker panel without any drilling needed. The only tools required are a 13mm socket, ratchet, and torque wrench.
I have added a photo showing both the Westin HDX Nerf Bars with Drop Steps # 56-14085 and Westin HDX Xtreme Nerf Bars # 56-24085 installed on a Ram 1500 which will give you an idea of how each of the nerf bars will look when you install them on your truck.
