I have not encountered an electric fireplace not shutting off before, most of the troubles with electric fireplaces are when they don't turn on. It sounds like your Greystone 26" Curved Electric Fireplace part # 324-000066 may have a bad control panel, or have tripped the overheat protection.

There are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to verify first though. Unplug the fireplace for at least ten minutes, this will allow the fireplace to cool and the electronics to reset in case the internal overheat protection was tripped. You can then plug the fireplace back in, and turn it on using the front control panel, not the remote. The manual controls on the fireplace must be "on" before the remote will work.

Another thing to keep in mind is the back light on the fireplace does not go off. When the fireplace is shut off the back light will go out for a second, then come back on. So when testing for functions you want to make sure the fireplace is on, not just plugged in since the light can be misleading.

My greystone 28" sf 208-28 curved glass fireplace works normally in all ways EXCEPT the heat/fan will not shut off unless I unplug or turn off breaker. I've unplugged for 10-15 mins at a time. ???

Sounds like a defective on/off switch. However, Greystone does not have repair parts available. You might try an appliance repair shop. If you wish to replace it, the closest match we have is the Greystone # GR54FR, a 26" wide fireplace. You will need to do some trim work to make it look nice in the larger opening.
