Question:

Need a hitch for my 2019 VW Tiguan R-Line to carry my Thule Hitching Post Pro bike rack. What do I need? Can I also tow a small utility trailer under 1000-lbs?

We have just what you need. I recommend using the etrailer hitch # e43ZR which is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver with a concealed cross tube design to give your 2019 VW Tiguan R-Line a clean, factory installed hitch look. It looks like your Tiguan has a towing capacity of 1500-lbs, so as long as your loaded trailer is under that weight, you'll also be able to tow the trailer; you'll want to confirm this capacity with your owner's manual.

If you're going to be towing a trailer, you'll need to install a wiring harness for the trailer lights as well as get a ball mount and hitch ball. For the wiring harness I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56403. This harness installs by plugging into your vehicle's lights/electrical system and will provide you with a 4 way trailer connector to make sure that you're legal and have functioning trailer lights. For a ball mount and hitch ball I recommend usinig the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which comes with 2 hitch balls and 2 ball mounts to cover a variety of towing heights and hitch ball requirements that you may encounter.
