Question:
how much weight will the tow bar and related equipment add overall to the vehicles? how much of a safety zone should I have on GVCW?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Base plate kits like the # RM-521447-4 weigh around 40 lbs and tow bars like the # RM-501 weigh around 55 lbs. In general the weight of flat towing equipment doesn't need to be factored into the capacity of anything. Only thing you really need to make sure is that your tow vehicle has the towing capacity for the weight of your towed vehicle and you'd be set.
