Is Play Between Hub and Axle on Trailer Normal
Published 10/22/2019 >
Question:
I have had this trailers for 3 months. I feel like the trailer is louder going over bumps compared to when I first got it. It seems to be coming from where hubs connect to the axle. Although I feel the lug nuts are tight, When I pull the tire there is play between the hub and the axle. Is this normal or is it indicative of a possible issue?

If the tires on your CE Smith Multi Sport Boat and Kayak Trailer # CE48810 have some play then that would definitely be contributing to what you're hearing. If the lugs are tight then this means that your spindle nut needs to be tightened down as you shouldn't be able to see any movement with your hub.
Tighten your spindle nut until you don't have anymore play and then back it off to the next notch. This should take out the play you have found as well as the weight noise you are hearing.
Let me know if you're having any other issues and I can help you troubleshoot further.
