Solution for Needing to Replace Trailer Tires with Size 9.50R16.5 on Dually Wheels

Published 10/03/2019

Question:

I have a gooseneck trailer, tandem axle dually with 10.000# axles. The tires on it are 9.50r16.5. I know they are heard to come by and Id like to get all 8 new tires for it. I was hoping I could get only new tires and keep these rims. That way I wouldnt have to also buy 8 new rims. Could you recommend anything for me? Id like to get E or F rated tires, since I haul up to 18.000 lb loads occasionally. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Since we don't have any trailer tires that fit a 16-1/2 inch wheel (and like you noticed this size is very hard to find) best option we have is a trailer wheel and tire combo in the size 215/75R17.5 like the # TTWA215H-17564WD for if you have a 8 on 275 mm bolt pattern. That is our only option. This tire and wheel combo is designed for dually axles like you have and are very heavy duty and have way more capacity than you'll need for your 10k axles.

In the future you'll have a much easier time if you need to replace tires as well.
