Congrats on your vehicle purchase!
A complete towing package includes a trailer hitch receiver, wiring, a ball mount, pin and clip and a ball.
For your 2015 Cadillac SRX AWD I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75682. This provides you with a 2-inch receiver which not only accepts a larger variety of accessories over the 1-1/4 option, but it also has a higher towing capacity at 4,000 lbs and 400 tongue weight which is plenty enough for the 2,800 lb trailer you will be towing. Always consult your vehicle's owner's manual to confirm the towing capacity. Your towing capacity is limited to that of your lowest rated component, including your vehicle.
To power your trailer lights, since you don't have the factory tow package # 118259 will not work, so hardwiring is the only option. Your best option for that is the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236. This provides a 4-pole flat connector which you can then secure to your hitch using # 18144. It connects directly to your battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system and out of the two hardwiring options, this unit has the highest amp rating.
To be ready to tow most trailers out there, the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit # 989891 is an excellent choice for you. This kit includes a ball mount with a 2-inch drop, two ball options (1-7/8 and 2 inch), a pin and clip and a handy storage bag. To reduce movement and rattle at the receiver and add extra security, you can upgrade your pin and clip with the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232.
I have attached a picture of the Draw-Tite hitch installed on a 2015 Cadillac SRX. As you can see, the center bumper panel will need to come off. Other than the receiver tube portion, the hitch is nicely concealed behind the fascia.
