Is There A Way Around Splicing Into the Brake Pedal for a Brake Controller on a 2019 Mazda 6

Question:

I have a 2019 mazda 6 with advanced adaptive cruise control. Im reluctant to mess with the brake pedal wiring there are 6 connected to the switch and I do not want to risk interfering with the driver assist features. Does a proportional brake controller like the P3 require access to the brake pedal switch wiring or does the the controllers inertial sensing handle knowing when the brakes are applied. I realize that all controllers need Positive, negative and brake wire connections. I do not see any detailed instructions on how to wire up the tekonsha universal wiring harness for proportional controllers

I have the perfect option for you and it is not the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 which will require you to splice into the stop light switch circuit behind the brake pedal on your 2019 Mazda 6. Instead, I highly recommend the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 because it is one of the only options that does not require any splicing into the vehicle's stop light switch circuit. The only thing you will need to do for the Curt Echo to work is have an active 12 volt signal at the trailer connector which just entails running a power wire from the battery.

If you don't already have a 7-way trailer connector on your Mazda 6 then you will need one for a trailer that has brakes so you can add this using a combo of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118587 and the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L which comes with the power wire you need to run to the battery for the Echo to work.
