Can Lock Cylinders on Global Lock RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit be Changed Out

Updated 07/17/2019 | Published 07/15/2019

Question:

Can the cylinders on the global link Entry lock latch be changed? I have a perfectly serviceable lock assembly but dont like everyone having a master key to my coach. Would like to re key the existing lock assy. Do you have some kind of shim to use with these locks? Some of the existing locks spin in the holes in the doors, any key that fits in the lock will open the door ,because the whole lock turns in the hole!!

The Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit # 295-000019 does not have the ability to change out lock cylinders because the Replacement Lock Cylinders such as # 295-000005 are not the right size and actually designed to fit baggage doors.

If you wanted locks with different keys you could order multiples that are keyed unique, but that would really be the only option. In regards to shims, there are not that are available for this purpose so the best option is for you to attempt to fabricate one yourself of the appropriate size. It sounds like your entry door latch might also not be a good fit so you may want to measure to make sure yours (if you purchased it aftermarket) is the right size.

For example, the aforementioned Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit # 295-000019 will fit doors that are between 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick and have a latch cutout between 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall and 3" wide x 4" tall.
