Troubleshooting Difficult to Lower Exhaust of 2012 Ford Mustang for Hitch Install

Question:
Hello, I have a 2012 Mustang V6 Premium and I have hitch #24863. I have removed the rear rubber exhaust hangars and have loosened the strap bolts. However, my mufflers will not rotate downward at all. I have the strap bolts very loose and I tried WD40 and tapping it with a hammer in case there is rust. Do you have any advice?

Exhaust components can be pretty stubborn, but you have done everything correct so far. Once you loosen the straps and remove the exhaust hangers the pipes should be able to pivot down. I'd try letting the WD40 sit for a while and try again. Eventually the hanger should break free and allow the pipe to pivot. Also make sure you have the strap as loose as possible as even some tension can prevent the pieces from pivoting.
I attached an install video that shows how this is done near the beginning as well.
