Question:
We have a 2019 Outback and just ordered a Rockwood 1940LTD pop-up without brakes. I need a whole towing set-up and I'm thinking about a transmission cooler too after reading some forum comments. We live near and will camp in mountainous regions so it seems like a good idea.

A transmission cooler for your 2019 Subaru Outback 3.6 is definitely a good idea since the Rockwood 1940LTD pop-up has a gross weight (GVWR) of 2300-lbs, which is pretty close the car's maximum tow rating of 2700-lbs. A transmission cooler will take a lot of the stress off the new car's transmission especially when you're towing it in the mountains.
We'll get you started with a hitch. I suggest 2-inch Class III hitch # e98847 because it offers the highest tow rating of 6000-lbs and also for its simple installation, which uses an included included hardware kit. I included a video showing you the install process. The photo shows the really clean appearance of this hitch.
For wiring use plug-in 4-pole kit # 118467 which installs easily as shown in the other linked video. You can use Ball Mount Kit # 989900 and towing mirrors # KS3990 to complete the towing setup.
Now for your transmission cooler I recommend the Derale Class III # D13503. This is complete kit with all the parts you'll need to install the cooler in front of the AC condenser. An install video showing a 2012 Outback is included for reference and the cooler comes with complete instructions.
