Question:

I have an older garage with limited clearance under the door rails and garage opener. I know its internal dimension is 6 inch high, but how high does the Thule Canyon XT sit above the roof rails when mounted? Also, how long does it take to install if we need to take it off and put it back on if it wont clear our garage door and opener? Thanks!

The 6" height that you referenced for the Thule Canyon XT # TH859XT is actually the overall height. This doesn't include the mounting hardware though. As long as you have more than 6" of clearance between your roof rack and garage opening the Canyon XT will fit!

Whenever you do go to remove the basket it is actually quite easy. If you check out the attached photo you can see how the mounting hardware installs with just a U-Bolt and the hand-tightening knobs. I have also attached a review video where we demonstrate how to install the basket. You will simply reverse these steps to remove it from your vehicle.

Some accessories that we carry for this basket are the lock cores # TH450400 (to deter theft) and the 20" extension piece # TH8591XT to make it a larger basket.
