In order to install a 7-way trailer connector on your 1977 Chevrolet C-30 you will first need a 4-way and for that I recommend the Upgraded ModuLite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119179. This harness has a red wire that will splice into the stop light circuit (if applicable), a green wire that will splice into the right stop/turn circuit, a yellow wire that will splice into the left stop/turn circuit, a brown wire that will splice into the running light circuit, a white wire that will need to be grounded, and a thick red wire that goes to the vehicle's positive battery terminal.
Once the 4-way is installed you can then install a 7-way like the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7. The two 4-way plugs will mate together and then you will need to run a blue wire up to the brake controller, a black wire to the vehicle's positive battery terminal, and a white wire to the ground.
Red - Left Turn/Stop
White - Ground
Blue - Electric Brake
Green - Right Turn/Stop
Black - Battery
Brown - Running Light
Yellow - Reverse Light
