Question:
I have reese rails that were already installed in my truck when I purchased it. I bought curt e16 hitch from etrailer and I have a hard time getting into or out of the rails. The slots on the rails are front to back is right at 22inch from center to center. The curt hitch feet angle out and to about 22 1/4inch center to center. I thought it might get better after I used it but Im tired of the trouble to remove and install it. I should have returned it but didnt. My question is Im thinking of buying the Reese 16k, Item # RP30047, from you but I hate to wind up the same as I have now. I believe I have seen that this hitch is suppose to fit rails that are 22inch center to center apart. If I buy this and it doesnt fit, will I be able to return it? Thanks

Yes, we do offer returns so if you purchase the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 and it does not fit you can return it. According to Reese, the rearward most rails should be positioned 24-5/8" forward from the rear edge of a 6-1/2' bed and 29-3/8" forward from the rear edge of an 8' bed. The front rail will then be positioned using the legs of the 5th wheel hitch however it should be right at 22" apart from the center of the mounting slot to the center of the mounting slot.
If you can send me a photo of your frame brackets, I may have some better advice for you as to why you are having alignment issues. The Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 and the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16115 should have the same base in regards to spacing but they could be 1/8-1/4" off which would then cause issues. This is why Reese recommend using the legs of the 5th wheel hitch to position the forwardmost rail.
