Question:
I am having trouble verifying that this will fit my 2005 f-150 super crew. This harness, part number 118247 looks the same as the existing one, less the 4 pin connector that is next to the 7 way receptacle. Can you help me? Thank you.

The Tow Package Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118247 may be a fit for your 2005 Ford F-150 as sometimes the wiring changed part way through the model year change. That harness is a fit for 2004 models and retains the 4-way flat already present.
It sounds like you don't have the 4-way and most likely have a connection like the one pictured for 2005 models. In this case you won't have a direct option to add a 7-way but one can still be installed with a couple extra parts. You will first use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56031 and then you will add the wiring # ETBC7. This will allow you to add the functions to the wires already run to the driver's side frame rail (see attached article). Most models will have these wires run just to the wheel well. Then you can add a brake controller using harness # 3035-P and then a controller like # 90195.
If you can't find the wires in the wheel well, you can simply hardwire the 12 volt power and brake controller as outlined in the # ETBC7 instructions. I've attached an article to help as well.
