Troubleshooting Dim Trailer Lights and Weak Brakes

Question:
My trailer running lights dim when I apply the over ride button on my controller. The trailer brake lights don’t come on when over ride button is pressed and my trailer brakes are not fully engaging. The brake are adjusted right new magnets I’m getting 12v from the brake box all the way to the backing plates and my brake controller doesn’t show any short.

You have a weak or insufficient ground. Try improving the ground strap connection from the main connector on your trailer wiring to the frame and then also try running ground jumper wires from each light and assembly. An insufficient ground will diminish the performance of the brakes and lights like what you described.
