Towing a 1990 Mazda Miata MX-5 on a Tow Dolly

Question:

How Can I tow a 1990 Mazda Miata MX5 , manual 5 speed, rear wheel drive behind my motorhome on a tow dolly., for travel through southern US Thinking maybe rear wheels on dolly, steering tied in place, but would prefer to drive wheels on if that is possible. Pic of dolly included

Dolly towing with front wheels off the ground is not recommended by the manufacturer as the bearings could cease up over long distances because of the lack of splash lubricant. It is definitely recommended to disconnect the drive shaft if you will be towing it like that.

You can load the vehicle rear tires on the dolly. That will solve the axle issue, however you will want to leave the steering unlocked so the key in the ignition and then use the Pedal to Wheel Vehicle Lock by Master Lock # 256DAT to keep your wheels straight. The biggest concern with this method is simply the ground clearance at the front end is minimal.
