Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch, Base Rails, and Sidewinder for 2017 Ram 1500 with RamBox

Question:
Sir, I have a 2017 Ram 1500, HEMI with the 64inch RAMBOX. I am aware of the hitch clearance issue with the RAM boxs. The trailer is a 2005 Forest River Wildcat 29BHBP. I am trying to keep cost down but understand I need the appropriate hitching components. Could you please tell me what hitch you would recommend, rails, brackets and if i need a sidewinder or not. Would a slider work? This trailer seems to have an extended hitch box already. Thanks in advance for the help!

With the RamBox on your 2017 Ram 1500, the Sidewinder is non-negotiable. There are not any sliding hitches that will give you the turning clearance needed even with the long pin box on your 2005 Forest River Wildcat trailer. The issue is with the width of the truck box due to the storage where all standard pin boxes will make contact with the inside edges unless they have a fixed location at the hitch and a rotating turret further back. I've attached an article to further assist.
I did some research and your 2005 Forest River Wildcat 29BHBP has a Lippert 1621 pin box. My recommendation is the Sidewinder # RP34FR
For your 5th wheel rails and brackets, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50142-58 and then the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # RP30047. You will also want the custom wedge # SWW-03 for the best fit.
