Question:
Hello, What is the height of the top of the opening off the ground? With a 5 inch rise ball mount and a two inch height ball approx. What would be the total height off the ground from the top of the ball?

I spoke with my contact at CURT regarding trailer hitch # 11090. What you can do is measure from the bottom of the vehicle frame straight down 8-1/2 inches. This is where the bottom of the receiver will be when the hitch is installed. So if you measure from that point to the ground (on level ground) that will give you the ground clearance measurement.
If you used a ball mount with a 5 inch rise and a ball that is 2 inches tall, add seven inches to get a general idea of where the top of the ball would be.
Since this is a Class I trailer hitch, you will need to use the ball mount that is recommended by the hitch manufacturer. For this hitch, the appropriate ball mount comes with it and it must be used in the rise position only. It has a 3-1/8 inch rise.
Another option is to use the European style ball mount, # C45592 for a 2 inch diameter ball (with a 5-1/8 inch rise). I have included a link to the installation instructions for the hitch.
