Should I use Air Springs or Timbren Suspension Enhancement on a 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer

Updated 09/26/2011 | Published 09/24/2011

Question:

is this product an assist product. Would I use air shocks in addition to this product? I have the 2003 Extended trailblazer LT with the 5.3l engine. I have 1996 CM Enclose cargo trailer 16foot all steel, not aluminum, empty weight around 4500lbs? have 5k lbs axles on trailer. When I hooked trailer to truck, lowered rear of truck. Bought a 10k lb weight distribution and a sway bar bar, but need to re-inforce suspension properly, safely.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Systems would be used as stand alone parts. They work similarly to air springs to accomplish similar goals. Both products will provide suspension support and work to keep the vehicle from sagging at the back. Both help with roll stability and ride quality.

Where they differ is what each is good for. Air springs are ideal if you carry various size loads frequently because you would be able to level the rear of a vehicle side to side. If you will be towing a trailer of the same weight most of the time, the Timbren system would be the best choice.

For your 2003 Chevy TrailBlazer and trailer, I would go with the Timbren system that you have referenced, # TGMRETB. I have included a link to the installation details for you. I have also included a link to our FAQ article on Timbren systems.
