You want the trailer to be as level as possibel when towing. To figure out the correct rise or drop you need with your 2004 Honda Pilot measure from the ground to the inside top of the trailer hitches opening with the vehicle parked on level ground. Then measure from the ground to the underside of the trailer's coupler with it level as well. The difference between the two tells you how much of a rise (the trailer is higher than the vehicle) or a drop (the vehicle is higher than the trailer) you need to tow level.

One way to take out some of the guesswork is an adjustable ball mount like part # MT70068. It provides up to 7-1/2 inches of drop or 6-1/2 inches of rise. For a ball that fits use part # 63845 for a 2 inch or part # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch. You need the hitch ball to match the size of the trailer's coupler as well.

Sure do. Part # C40007 will work just fine.
