I drive an X-5 SUV. How would i connect this to a sedan in a ditch using this strap?

On the vehicle that is in the ditch, you will need to find a solid connection point like a tow hook or the vehicle frame. The more centered this connection point, the better for the vehicle in the ditch. You will pass one end of the Recovery Strap, # EM59600, around the frame and use a Tow Strap Cinch Bone, like # BC-902, to hold it in place. See the second picture on the product page for the strap for a visual what this will look like.
You could also loop the strap through itself by pulling the other end all the way through the loop. Make a similar connection on the X-5. Make sure that people are clear from both vehicles and clear from the space between them. If the X-5 has a 4 wheel drive low setting, use it. Otherwise the lowest gear would be best. Take it slow and if anything does not seem right or you are not making progress, stop and reassess the situation.
