What dimension bike will fit this mount in the bed of my 2016 Toyota Tacoma if I were to use it to hold a bike side to side instead of front to tailgate?

The RockyMounts LoBall Bike Rack # RKY1097 doesn't have a specific max bike length that it will work with because your truck bed will be supporting the weight. As long as your bike can sit sideways then it will work great for you! Your bike does need to have a 9mm axle for it to be compatible with this bike rack.
If you would like to add a lock to your bike then I also recommend using the Cable Lock # e98891 to help prevent theft.
