Installing Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76025 on 2017 Honda Odyssey with Lift Gate Sensor
Updated 04/20/2018 | Published 04/19/2018 >
Question:
Interested in this hitch of 2017 Honda Odyssey. Notice slight differences in installation technique between 2014 and 2016 video. Which one more closely resembles 2017? Also, in 2018 Honda Odyssey video, it mentions the need to replace lift gate sensor bar. Do you know if this is necessary for the 2017? My Odyssey does have back up camera and sensor and has power liftgate. Do you know if the wiring by the bumper affects the install at all? Thanks for your help!

The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76025 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2017 Honda Odyssey. It features a sleek, hidden crosstube design, but this feature does require more of an in-depth installation when compared to the other options available. Because the custom-fit hitch will use existing holes in the vehicle's frame, no drilling will be required. The underbody panels/fascia will need to be temporarily loosened or removed and the process does require temporary removal of the bumper/fascia.
I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite regarding the lift gate sensor and wiring in the bumper of your 2017 Odyssey. He stated that you will not need to modify the sensor bar at all during installation. After the hitch is in place, you may just need to wave your foot around a little bit more to activate the sensor, but it will still work just fine. This is really the case with any trailer hitch on vehicles that have this function. If there is wiring inside the rear bumper, this will just need to be disconnected during installation.
I recommend taking a look at the installation video on the 2016 model Odyssey, which I have attached, as it should be pretty identical to your process. I have also attached the written installation instructions that you can look through.
