Thule Roof Cargo Box Recommendations for a 2015 Acura MDX and GMC Acadia

Question:

Really need the extra space that the Motion would provide and trying to see if it will fit on both our Acura MDX and GMC Acadia. Assume the Acadia is a yes but cant determine if we can also use on the MDX. Any help would be appreciated.

I checked with Thule and they do not list the Motion XT XL # TH629806 as a fit for the 2015 Acura MDX. You can however use similarly sized boxes including the Force XT XXL, # TH6359B at 22 cubic feet.

To determine if the rear hatch will hit any of these boxes there is a measurement you can take. First, if the MDX roof rack crossbars can be moved, slide the front one as far forward as it will go. Then with the hatch open measure from the center of the front crossbar straight back to the nearest part of the opened hatch.

If the distance is greater than 54-3/4 inches then the Force XT XXL will fit.

All of the Thule boxes are listed as a fit for all years of the GMC Acadia but you would perform the same measurement described above to see if there will be hatch interference.
