Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB

Updated 02/28/2018 | Published 02/27/2018

Question:

I have a 2017 Chevy Suburban with max tow package. My numbers for my Suburban: Curb Weight - 5586-5822 GAWR - 3600 frt GAWR - 4200 rr GVWR - 7300-7500 GCWR - 14000 Cargo Capacity - 1497 My numbers for my travel trailer: 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2600RB: UVW - 5725 GVWR - 7495 Tongue Weight - 594 I currently own a Pro series hitch with 800# weight distribution bars. Is this hitch adequate for safety or should I look at a new set up. I am very new to towing and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Expert Reply:

If your loaded tongue weight (counting weight from cargo behind rear axle of tow vehicle) is 594 lbs then yes your 800 lb Pro Series WD system would be rated perfectly.

If your tongue weight is going to be higher than that you'd want to go with a higher rated system like the Reese Strait Line part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs and features only sway control that works to prevent sway before it starts.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
