I have an elite under cover hard tonneau cover with the two rod setup - trying to config new lock to this bracket - currently bracket has a square connecting hole and the lock with PAL9555 has an oval/oblong shape – how can make this work any and all suggestions welcome

Based on the pictures you provided (thank you!), she stated that a better option is going to be with the Pop & Lock Conversion Kit # PAL9772, as it appears that you already have an operational handle. This will give you the locking functionality you are looking for and will work well with your Elite cover.
