Recommended Puck Adapter for 2015 GMC 2500 with 4-Puck Factory Look System

Updated 01/02/2018 | Published 12/31/2017

Question:

My 2015 gmc 2500hd has factory towing set up with four holes in the bed of the truck. I want to put gooseneck in but can not figure out what system mounts into the holes. It looks like the holes have a slot notched out to receive a catch and lock down. Any ideas on what would work.

Based on the year, the system is most likely not a factory system. GMC and Chevy did not have a factory puck system until 2016 and it included the gooseneck puck so there were 5 holes. If you have the 4 pucks it most likely is the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30868 which is confirmed to fit your truck.

For a compatible gooseneck hitch, I recommend the Reese Elite Series Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 25,000 lbs # RP30845. This is a simple fit made to work together. You do have another option of using the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter for Standard 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 20,000 lbs # RP30156 and then using another adapter like the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Fifth Wheel Rails, 25,000 lbs GTW # 16085.

Another option is to simply add the gooseneck hitch to your under-bed system, which will give you the 4 pucks and the gooseneck integrated using the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Head Kit - 25,000 lbs # RP30158.

I also recommend the 5th wheel/gooseneck wiring harness # 50-97-410 to add a second 7-way to the bed of your truck for easy connection.
