Question:

Hello, I have a 2015 Dodge Durango RT with Tow Package. I recently purchased a travel trailer that weighs 3500 lbs dry. Could you please recommend an electronic brake controller? Thank you.

When towing with your 2015 Dodge Durango RT and trailering a weight of 3500 or more, I recommend a electric proportional brake controller. With a proportional brake controller, you can get heavy-duty emergency braking, general braking or slow-to-an-idle braking for your trailer automatically. The intensity with which your trailer brakes are activated and the rate at which they are applied are dependent on the deceleration of your tow vehicle. This means that, unlike time-delay controllers, which send the same amount of preset power to your trailer brakes every time - proportional controllers are able to adapt to every braking situation differently. This would be the safest solution to protect your trailer, cargo, vehicles and passengers when towing that type of weight.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 is etrailer's top selling and has more customer satisfaction of any brake controller and will get the job done. This brake controller will work on the heaviest loads that your Durango and hitch can handle and works on trailers with up to 4 axles. It features continuous diagnostic checks that alert you to any potential problems and integrated safeguards protect your vehicle, trailer and the controller. It also has a quick-disconnect feature that lets you easily remove and store the controller when not in use.

The Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # TK93VR is the wiring harness used to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 in your Durango model. Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.

I have attached help guides and a install video to simplify this process.
