Question:
Will a reese tow bar work with the 52491-1 base plate

Expert Reply:
It is possible that you will be able to use the Reese tow bar with the Roadmaster base plates, # 52491-1. If it is the Tow Ready Tow Bar by Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, and Reese, # 63180, you will need Roadmaster base plate to Tow Ready tow bar adapter, # RM-025. In order to make the base plate arms removable, you will also need quick disconnects, part # RM-201. I have also included a link to our series of articles on flat towing a vehicle.
You should keep in mind that the Tow Ready tow bar is rated for towing speeds of 45 miles per hour or less.
A better tow bar option would be the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, which is designed for towing long distances and more frequently. With this tow bar you will need a set of Quick Disconnects, # RM-201, to easily connect and disconnect the tow bar from the base plates.
