Question:

Hey there, I like the look of the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 49" x 40" x 6" - 150 lbs Item # TH859XT. I need to mount it on my Audi Q7. It has factory roof bars that run front to back. Will this carrier mount in a secure way to this type of bars? I do have some cross bar roof racks I could use, but I dont really want the extra height. If possible I would like to mount this carrier to the bars already on my Q7 that run front to back? Is that possible?

Before the Thule Roof Cargo Basket, # TH859XT, can be installed on a 2009 Audi Q7 roof rack crossbars will need to be installed.

Since you have the factory roof rails that run front to back, I recommend the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, # RRVA126B, and the Rhino Rack SRB Legs, # RRSX027. The Vortex Aero bars will provide an aerodynamic crossbar that will provide a quite ride with less wind drag. The SRB legs will connect to the side rails of the Q7 by clamping to the rail.

Once you have the crossbars installed, then the Thule Cargo Basket # TH859XT will have a base to mount to the roof of the Audi Q7.
