Yes the Tube Stainless Steel Trailer Hitch Receiver Step part # CR-605 will work well for your 2017 Subaru Outback and can be used with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitch receivers. The hitch step is made from a T-304 stainless steel and can extend outwards from 7" to 9". It is also rated for weight capacity up to 350 lbs. To secure the hitch step to the receiver tube I also recommend using the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 1-1/4" Hitches part # e98879 as this hitch pin and hitch lock.
