Choosing The Correct Ball Mount For Lifted Truck To Tow Trailer Level

Updated 06/22/2020 | Published 07/31/2017

Question:

Hello, I recently purchased a new 2016 Chevy Silverado and it had a 7inch lift on it. I have measured from the ground to the top of the hitch and it measures 26.5inch from the ground. Can you please assist me with the correct amount of inches I will need to buy the hitch.

For a 7 inch lift on your 2016 Chevy Silverado, I definitely recommend a ball mount that has a significant drop to tow your trailer level. I recommend an adjustable hitch so you can tow multiple trailers level. You may be interested in the 180 Hitch 2-Ball Mount w/ Stainless Steel Balls - 2" Hitch - 10" Drop, 11" Rise - 12.5K # LTB10-2. I've attached a video of this hitch for you that gives you a 2 inch hitch ball as well as a 2-5/16 inch ball integrated. I recommend getting the Locking Dual Pin Assembly and Hitch Pin Set for 180 Hitch and Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mounts - Keyed Alike # WS06 to secure your investment and give you one key access to adjust or remove.

I've attached an article to assist with determining the correct drop for your specific truck and trailer and have also linked the page to all of your options.

This will be pretty dependent on the trailer(s) you plan on towing. You'll want to measure from the ground up to the bottom of the trailer coupler and compare that to the receiver height on your F-150 to see what type of a drop you'll need to create an even setup. If you can tell me these measurements I will be happy to make a specific recommendation.
