Review of Weigh Safe Ball Mounts TB10-2

Today we're going to take look at the Weigh Safe 180 adjustable 2-ball mount for 2 inch hitch receiver. This has a 10 inch drop, 11 inch rise, and a 10,000 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity. This adjustable ball mount with the included hitch balls will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here slides into your 2 inch hitch receiver opening, and the hitch balls will provide the connection point for your trailer coupler. The adjustable heights on this will let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. The ball mount platform basically just slides up and down the shank, and then you secure it in place with the included dual pins as opposed to some adjustable ball mounts that use the individual pins that make it a hassle to connect it. This Weigh Safe ball mount can be used in either the drop position like this, or in the rise position, just to match the height of your trailer. Comes with 2 different size hitch balls.

Right here is the 2 inch diameter, down here is the 2 and 5/16 diameter. This will let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes, and it's pretty simple to switch the ball. All you have to do is remove the pins, flip the ball platform, and reinsert the pins. The balls are stainless steel, so they are corrosion-resistant. Just show you how to do that. We'll pull off the clips, and we'll slide out the dual pin, and once you slide it out you see it's all one piece.

Then from there you can slide it up and down for your height adjustment. Then to change the ball size, just flip it over 180 degrees, put it back that way. Now you have your 2 and 5/16, and you just put your dual pin back in and clip it into place. Now the hitch shank and the mounting platform are made of a 6061 T6 aluminum which is used in aircraft construction. Gives you a superior strength and durability. Now this ball mount does also offer a stowable design, which will let you store the balls and the mounting platform underneath your vehicle so nobody will bump into them.

Basically all you have to do is rotate it just like that, then install it. Then when you install it that way, there's nothing sticking out the back of the vehicle for somebody to bump into, it's all stored underneath. Nice design. Also, if you need to, I want to show you the balls. If you need to remove those, there's a pin right here. If you just turn it down this way, that pin will slide out.

Once the pin slides out you can see the two balls are one single piece, stainless steel. 2 and 5/16 on one end, 2 inch on the other end. To reinstall it, you have a hole right here. Just drop it down, line it up with the hole in the platform, and then take your pin and just go ahead and push it all the way in until it's flush. The application again, this is designed to fit 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. The gross towing weight will depend on the ball size. If you use the 2 inch, it's stamped on the top, 8,000 pounds. The 2 inch will have a 8,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. If you use the 2 and 5/16, that'll be stamped on the ball, 10,000 pounds. Now I do want to give you a measurement of the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball. Let me just lift this up a little bit. If we measure the center of the hitch pin hole, oops, turn it around. Center the hitch pin hole to the hitch ball, going to be right around 8 and 3/4 inches. Maximum drop, when we put it in the maximum drop position, we'll measure that. Go ahead and put the clips in. Now I have it in the maximum drop position, so that measurement will be measured from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank. If we put a ruler on it you can see right at 10 inches for your maximum drop. If I flip it over, measure the maximum rise, again from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank. You can see it's right at 11 inches. If you notice the holes for the height adjustment, they are drilled at 1 inch center-to-center measurement, so you do have an incremental height adjustment of 1 inch. One last thing. I do want to note that they do also offer as an option, if you want this as a 2 inch and a 2 and 5/16, they do offer a dual sided hitch ball that comes with a 1 and 7/8 and 2 inch if you need it. We do sell those separately on our website. It's part number TB03. That should do it for the review of the Weigh Safe 180 adjustable 2-ball mount for a 2 inch hitch. 10 inch drop, 11 inch rise, and a 10,000 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity.
