Question:
I am trying to decide between ordering a keyed lock and the electric tailgate lock. I am not certain, however, how the elecric lock is installed in the tailgate,or where the wires run, or where and how difficult it is to connect the electrical to a truck with electric door locks. I have a 2006 Dodge Dakota with power locks. If you can send me any information that would help me to make my decision, I would appreciate it. Thank You,

The instructions for the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock, part # PAL8100, are pretty straightforward. I have attached them below.
To wire this unit into your 2006 Dodge Dakota, you will need to remove the driver side kick panel and locate the harness leading to the driver side door. Locate the gray wire and the tan wire. Attach the included blue connector taps to them.
This will install inside the tailgate, and from the actuator the wires will be run along the frame rail underneath the truck to the blue connector taps that you previously attached under the driver side kick panel.

Everything is installed on my Power pop and lock besides the wires and I am ready to install the wires but I cannot find a wire that is Blue with a black stripe OR Blue with a light red stripe. I am going to borrow a circuit tester from a friend but I have no idea how to go about finding the correct wire. I have a 2010 Toyota Tacoma.
