You will be safe towing your trailer with your 2015 Ram 2500 as long as you are under the 20,000 when using a Sidewinder rated for 20,000 lbs. You will not need to remove your truck tailgate to use a sidewinder.

For your 20,000 lb options the pivot point sits 22" behind the king pin and above your bed rails and tailgate. The rotating turret attaches to the pin box on your trailer to provide the new pivot point since the king pin is locked in place at the hitch.

Your best option if it fits your current pin box is the Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret - 20,000 lbs # RP34FR.

These are pin box specific, so you will need to know the pin box number on your trailer to find the appropriate Sidewinder. If you can't determine the pin box number which is normally printed on a sticker on the pin box itself, you can use the attached article to measure for fit. I've also attached some other Sidewinder articles to help. Please let me know if you have further questions I can assist with.
