Will the Thule Motion L or XL Fit a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

Looking for a cargo box for my 2010 Grand Cherokee. I am intrigued by the Thule Motion XT but dont know what size to get between the L and XL. Id like to get the biggest that will fit the vehicle. Also, Ive read some mixed reviews on the durability of the box. What are your thoughts on that?

Both the Thule Motion Large # TH629706 and XL # TH629806 will fit a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory roof rack. To determine if there will be any interference with the rear hatch when opened there is one measurement to take.

First, if you can move the crossbars go ahead and move the front bar as far forward as it will go. Then measure from the center of the front bar straight back to the nearest part of the open hatch. It that distance is greater than 47-1/2 inches then the large box will fit without hatch interference. If the distance is greater than 51-1/4 inches then either box will fit without hatch inference.

The Motion line of boxes only recently came out so I would question a review at this point that states the boxes are not durable. What are people doing to these boxes to wear them out in such a short time? That I couldn't say but I do know that Thule makes a quality cargo box and the Motion line is nearly the top of the line for the Thule boxes. And they have a limited lifetime warranty so should there be a quality control issue Thule would take care of it. I have not heard of any issues with the Motion boxes at this point.
