Securing Kayak To Roof Rack On 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon
Updated 05/09/2017 | Published 05/07/2017 >
Question:
When using J style kayak racks on my 2017 Subaru Outback, the crossbars are not very secure they feel quite wobbly. I would be uncomfortable going from the top of the J hook to the crossbar with my tiedown strap. Theres some Tiedown points on the rails that seems to me would be a better option for my tiedown straps Im just wondering what is the best way to secure them to the Jay racks/top of car?

If you have tie-down points on the side rails of the roof rack on your Outback, I would recommend using those to secure the kayak to your J-style carrier.
If you do not have tie-downs you may be interested in part # IMF14218. These are 1-inch x 8-ft cam buckle straps that have hooks you can secure to your side rails.
