Derale Remote Trans Filter Kit w/ Temperature Gauge # D13091 Recommdation 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander

Published 02/17/2011

Question:

I was looking into this item for my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander LS with the 3.0 V6 - it has a temp gauge on it Im not sure if I need another tranny cooler or not, you see, so I thought maybe Id install this first to see how hot the tranny fluid gets on my car when towing. I tow a 3000 pound popup camper. Ill ponder further whether I need a cooler or not. Im concerned that itll take a long time for the tranny to warm up in the winter I dont have a remote start and would rather not have to warm my car for 10 minutes everytime it gets cold here in Northern New England I dont have a garage. What are your thoughts? Thanks! :

This Derale Remote Transmission Filter Kit w/ Temperature Gauge, part # D13091, that you referenced would be a good idea for you to monitor your transmission coolers to let you know if you have an adequate cooling system, or if you should invest in another transmission cooler.

The added filter would also help prolong the life of your transmission.

When it comes to the temperature of your transmission you can not cool it enough, so you would not have to worry about over-cooling your transmission. The only issue you might encounter would be on the cold start-ups like you mentioned.

You most likely would not need to let your car warm up for ten minutes before you could drive it. A few minutes would be beneficial though. However, if it is cold enough that you would need to let your car idle to warm up the transmission, most likely your engine will benefit from the extra warm up time as well.

I attached a link to our FAQ page on transmission coolers that you might find informative also.

If you wanted an extra filter you would want a Replacement Filter for Derale Remote Transmission Filter Kits, part # D13092.
