Distance Between 5th Wheel Rails and where to Start Measuring at the End of the Bed
Published 04/04/2017 >
Question:
What if you dont have a head assembly yet. I cant afford to get everything at one time so i will have to wait until next month to get the hitch. Is there a measurement in the instructions for the second rail in case you dont have a head assembly available? Also where exactly did he measure from for the first rail, i mean where does the actual bed start. There is a step down to the bed so do you measure from the top of the stepdown even with the bed or from the bottom of the stepdown? In the video it looks like he measures from the bottom of the step down you can see the beginning of the tape measure is past the end of the top level of the bed just a bit, so i wanted to make sure. Which section is the actual starting point?

I see what you are saying. So the distance from the center of the back rail to the center of the front rail is 21-13/16 inches or to simplify it we usually say 22 inches.
The measurement from the back of the bed would start at the skinny green arrow in your picture.
