Question:
Do not have 12v aux/charging power at truck connection. Fuse and relay under dash are good. The factory 7 way truck/trailer connection is a little scruffy but no power coming into plug from back side wiring connections. I am considering replacing the 7 way and its harness but do not see where the 7 way harness connects to the tow wiring going forward. The 7 way harness heads up over the gas tank and that is as far as can be seen. My Expeditions harness connection was roughly around the end of the drivers side spring. On the Excursion all is seen is brake tubing. No wiring noted on the passenger side. Does the gas tank need to be removed to get to connection?

There should be wiring from the tow package wiring down along the driver's side frame rail where it plugs into another connector. If it is not present on your 2005 Ford Excursion it is possible that it is above the gas tank but that just seems like a really bad place to put it. You could always bypass the factory wiring for the 12 volt circuit and run your own wire # 12-1-1 (sold by the foot) to the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540.
