Are the Ends of the Aries Nerf Bars AA204045 Open to Allow Water and Debris to Enter

Question:
There does not seam to be weather plugs on the ends. What prevents mud, snow, gravel, or salt from entering the tube and rusting it out prematurely ?

The product picture for the # AA204045 is a bit misleading. The ends of it are sealed off and there isn't a hole on either end that would allow rain or dirt to enter.
