Fuse Location For Trailer Wiring On 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax

Question:

I have a 2009 chev duramax I plugged up to a trailer that was not wired right and blew a fuse for my trailer brakes. its one of the 60 amp fuses im sure but I cant find it.

You should be able to find a fuse that is labeled for trailer wiring either in your owner's manual or on the inside of the fuse holder lid.

From my research I found a few references to the fuses for a trailer. Check out Fuse # 1, It is a 40amp fuse and should be marked for trailer wiring. Numbers 9 and 10 are listed as trailer turn fuses and are 10amps. You can also check fuse # 14 which is the vehicle stop light. And if needed check out fuse # 19 that is listed as trailer backup. I attached a drawing of the fuse panel and I highlighted the fuses I mentioned above.

I have a 2007 2500 HD diesel. Can’t find the trailer RT/Stop fuse that was supposed to be #1 under the hood fuse box. The %1 location is a blank. No terminal pins. Where did they move it? I don’t have power at the GM hitch for trailer RT/stop.

The owner's manual I was able to pull up for your 2007 Silverado 2500 does still list the trailer right turn/stop fuse as being located in the number 1 position. I would maybe check with a local Chevy dealer to see where else it might be on your truck. Unfortunately I'm not sure where an alternate location would be.

@ChrisR The mystery is resolved. The 2007 2500 HD is per the owners manual with a #1 position for the RH trailer turn/stop lights. This model truck is LBZ. However the 2007 1/2 2500 HD were a different body and diesel upgrades Plus a different under the hood fuse box. The new fuse box #1 is moved leaving a blank. The new fuse box has many location changes all of which can be found by searching for the 2008 model LMM electrical manual that includes gas & diesel 2500 HD. GM apparently chose not to create a 2007 1/2 manual (cost) or provided an addendum to the 2007 owners manual. Only a GM dealeship would have known this. Look up Chevy LBZ vs LMM 2007 2500HD trucks online and it is an obvious different truck body etc.

@Dave Wow - thanks for the info and good investigative work! I'm glad you were able to get this resolved. I'm assuming replacing the fuse did resolve the trailer light issue?
