Question:
Hi, I have a 2007 Lexus GX 470 with towing package and I would like to add a braking system for my two horse trailer to the car. What would you suggest? How easy is it to install?

If your Lexus GX470 has the factory 7-way trailer connector installed at the back bumper, the install will be super simple. You'll need the brake controller, the Tekonsha Prodigy # 90195 you mentioned would be an excellent choice as it's very easy to use with a very user-friendly display that alerts you to any issues with your trailer braking system with a single glance. The controller would install to the underside of the dash to the right of the steering column, within easy reach of the driver.
You'll also need the # 3040-P brake controller wiring adapter harness. One end of the harness would plug into the rear of the controller, the other into the connector under the vehicle dash. The connector is located to the left of the steering column, near the emergency brake pedal.
If you do not have a 7-way trailer connector, you'll need to hardwire the controller. This is more difficult, but not terribly so. Begin by installing a functional 4-pole connector using part # 119147KIT if you already don't have one. You'd then use our # ETBC7 brake controller installation kit. The kit includes an adapter that plugs into the 4-pole, converting it to a 7-way. The additional steps needed are explained in the FAQ articles and install video I've linked for you.
The linked video shows the brake controller being installed in a Toyota Highlander. The procedure on your GX470 would be similar.
