Recommend a Weight Distribution and Sway Control System for 32 Foot R-Vision Maxlite Trailer

Updated 08/25/2010 | Published 08/24/2010

Question:

Which WDS will be the best choice for my 32 foot trailer R-Vision Maxlite? I am looking at the Reese straight line model 66088 dual sway control WDS. We have a 2008 Toyota Tundra that will be doing the towing. What type of ball would you recommend for the WDS?

The Reese Trunnion Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, part # RP66084, would work great for your 32 foot trailer R-Vision Maxlite. This is a Weight Distribution System with dual cam sway control, so it acts to stop trailer sway before it starts.

The High Performance Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System, part # RP66561, is comparable to part # RP66084. However, it uses a friction sway control instead of dual cam sway control.

I recommend going with the Reese Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, part # RP66084 because it uses dual cam sway control which will act to stop trailer sway before it starts, and with the size of your trailer, the dual cam sway control will help stop trailer sway.

For a ball with this application, I would recommend Hitch Ball with 2-5/16 inch Diameter and Medium Shank, part # 19286, since it has the same Gross Trailer Weight capacity as the Reese Weight Distribution System.

I have linked an FAQ on trailer weight distribution and sway control and a weight distribution install video that may be a good reference for you.
