Question:

curt 12291 or draw-tite 36408. Hi which of the 2 hitches above are the most hidden from view. I under stand you will see the receiver I just dont want to see all the hitch hanging down. Thanks

Between the Curt hitch # C12291 and Draw-Tite hitch # 36408 both hitches are positioned the same on the 2016 GMC Terrain. Take a look at the picture I have included showing the hitches installed. The receiver locations are identical and the crosstubes and mounting brackets are hidden behind the fascia/bumper.

If it were me I would use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36408 if carrying bikes or cargo. The reason is that the Curt hitch requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 when using the hitch with non-trailer loads such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. The Draw-Tite hitch does not have that requirement.

If you wanted to do any towing the correct and recommended ball mount is # 36051 and it must be used in the rise position only. For a 1-7/8 inch ball I recommend # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball I recommend # 19258.

And for trailer wiring I recommend # 118494 to add a 4-Way flat to the back of the vehicle. I have included links to videos showing installations of the hitches and the wiring for you.
