Will Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains Contact Wheel on Size 275/70-18 Tires
Published 12/01/2015 >
Question:
I have a 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Lariat FX4 Crew Cab. It has factory 18inch wheels. They have backspacing to where the face of the wheel is flush with the outside of the tire. Also being 4WD and having a full floating axle the center sections stick out a bit. My question is contact with the wheel by the tire chain. Some pictures it shows viturally no chance of contact, others it looks as the center of the chain are resting on the wheel. I have 275/70R18 tires with normal highway tread. I do like these chains for the design but do not want the chain contacting or scratching my wheels. Will these chains work for me?

Where the chains will sit in relation to the wheel depends on the tire width and sidewall height. We have not test fit the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2533 to know if the chains will touch the wheel or not.
I spoke with my contact at Titan Chain and he told me that the chains are 17 inches wide. Based on the section width and aspect ratio of your tire, in theory the chain would not touch your wheel. However the only way to be sure where the chains will sit is to test fit the chains on your vehicle.
Keep in mind that the tensioning chain on # TC2533 will come across the wheel even if the chain does not touch while going around the tire.
The # TC2533 snow chains are confirmed to fit size 275/70-18 tires.
