Installing 7-Way Harness On 2012 Nissan Xterra
Published 11/03/2015 >
Question:
I recently purchased the brake controller and 7 pin wiring kit for my 2012 Xterra Pro. Not sure if I need to cut and splice wires on the harness power and brake but will know tonight when I hook up the controller. I cant find the link to the instructions for swapping wires if needed. Can you please send me the link? Thanks

I see from your recent order that you purchased the Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller, part # TK90160 and the wiring harness adapter, part # 3050-P. You can simply plug one end of the adapter into the back of the brake controller and the other end into the port located under your dash near the emergency brake pedal and will be taped to another wiring harness.
The # 118266 you purchased will plug into the two connectors on the driver side frame rail near the back of the vehicle. You can check out the attached video that shows where these connectors are and how to install the 118266. After the connectors at the rear of the vehicle are attached, you will need to go to the passenger side by the front seat. You will need to remove the threshold and then the panel on the passenger side. You will find the connector that attaches to the small harness included with the 118266. The other end of the harness has 3 connectors and those are used for the relays included in the 118266.
You can then hook your trailer up to the vehicle. If the brakes lock up you will need to reverse the black and the blue wire on the 118266 harness. This is explained in detail in the attached helpful article.
