Question:

I read the hitch is rated to 1000#s tongue weight. Does this mean that the car is also rated to tow that much weight with this hitch? Im looking to add a cargo carrier and hope to be able to carry approx. 100#s. Thank you.

The tongue weight rating, or towing capacity, of the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11090 does not mean that the vehicle is rated for the same capacities.

I was unable to find information on the towing capacity, or tongue weight, of the Eos in my research. I recommend checking your owner's manual or your local Volkswagen dealer to find out the tongue weight and towing capacities, or even its ability to tow at all, of your 2012 Volkswagen Eos.

If you determine your Eos has a high enough tongue weight capacity to carry your cargo, I recommend the Curt 20x48 Cargo Carrier # C18110. This cargo carrier weighs 30 pounds, and is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. It would allow you to carry up to 70 pounds of cargo to stay within the 100 pound limit of the hitch, but not the full 100 pounds that you requested. The shank of this cargo carrier has a 3-3/4 inch rise to help provide additional ground clearance. I have attached a review video of this cargo carrier for you.
