To determine the hanger spacing on a trailer you first need to determine where the axle or axles should be placed. For that take a look at the picture I have included that explains how to calculate axle placement.
Next, the hanger spacing is going to depend on the number of axles, hangers being used, and leaf springs being used. On many hanger kit product pages, see link, we list the likely hanger spacing for certain springs and axle capacities. But these are just rough guides and the only way to know for sure is to mock it up on the trailer, make adjustments, and then permanently install the components.
